Classroom Happenings: Writer's Workshop

Writer's Workshop

Students from 231 and 232 have been BUSY practicing story telling, gathering ideas for writings, and examining the features of strong personal narratives over the past two months. They've narrowed down their choices and made some FABULOUS decisions about a meaningful moment / series of moments in their lives. They've listening to some mentor authors, like Jerry Spinelli, crafted various leads for their narratives, and explored the craft of "exploding a moment" by taking a short period of timing and writing about it as if it were happening in slow motion. Next week, they will finish up their full drafts and begin crafting powerful, reflective endings before beginning some revision work.

Testing out different types of leads for a personal narrative.

Final topics!

Writing some spooky "emoji" tales to end the month of October.
